Heather Ablondi
Heather and Steven Ablondi have been married five years. They have two daughters, Abigail and Bethany. Heather has spoken to over 100,000 people nationwide. In 2004, she became a member of the National Speaker's Association. She is now the sole proprietor of Ablondi Apparel, Inc. As Mrs. Maryland she serves as a spokesperson for the March of Dimes.
After the premature birth of her daughters, Heather joined the Board of Directors of Preemies Today, a preemie parent support group whose programs include a Friend to Talk To Hotline, monthly outings, NICU care kits and an educational lecture series. She helped to coordinate the Preemies Today/Team Katelyn Golf Tournament which raised over $10,000 and served as Chair of Development. Heather also started to volunteer with the March of Dimes. She serves on their Public Affairs Committee and Communications Committee, as well as serving as the Family Team Chair for Montgomery County. She was asked to testify before the Maryland General Assembly on behalf of legislation that would increase the access to health care for women and children. She filmed a PSA that aired on CNN Headline News and is currently planning a fundraising 5k and coordinating quarterly scrapbooking events.
Heather has been featured in "Woman's World Magazine", "Reader's Digest", Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul II, and various other publications. She is the recipient of a Presidential Service Award and was named Daily Point of Light #1322. She also received a Governor's Volunteerism and Service award, a JC Penney Golden Rule Award, and a Miss America National Community Service Award. Heather was featured on the lead segment of the debut episode of the PAX Channel's Heroes and Sheroes program.
